Christmas at Pine Ridge Inn By: SAvannah Carlisle

“The Love between a Mother and daughter is forever. The bond between their hearts is unbreakable. The connection between their souls is eternal” Simply Well Balanced
Pine Ridge, Colorado: a quaint, pictturesque, charming town where visitors feel wrapped up in Christmas love like a warm quilt. If you love Hallmark Christmas movies, Debbie Macomber, or just want a beautiful, cozy Christmas story, that is more than just a romance novel, you have to read Savannah Carlisle’s newest book Christmas at Pine Ridge Inn. Yes, there is the love story between Lila McAllister and inn manager, Brady, but this story is so much more than that. It is a beautiful story of a mother/daughter finding each other 34 years after the birth of a Christmas baby girl.
Lila, 34 years old, a hospitality consultant, is facing her first Christmas without her adopted mother. With both her adoptive parents now gone, she is alone without family. The only connection she has to her birth mother is a small chirstmas-themed baby quilt, a faded pink onesie, and a small teddy bear. Her birth certificate is a dead end, as the state of Colorado does not allow adopted children to gain access to their birth parents information unless it is medically necessary. Upon closer examination, Lila notices the never seen before label on her precious baby quilt. She traces the label to a very small quilting shop in Pine Ridge and decides to go and see what answers she can find.
Booked for a stay at the inn through the 26th, Lila is thrown into a Christmas experience she did not anticipate (cutting down a tree, making ornaments, baking cookies, and other festive Christmas activities). She bonds with one of the guests there, over early morning coffee, and finds her self drawn into the celebrations with the other guests. She finds herself at odds with inn manager Brady, as she tries to offer what she considers helpful hints, but that soon blossoms into so much more as she is on her journey to find her birth mother.
Through some initial investigation, Lila learns that she was born at that very inn 34 years ago. She learns that her birth mother had specifcally ordered the quilt for her as a baby and of all the love and prayers that went into that special blanket. Lila learns that everyone has a story, and that even though she was given up, she was always loved and that love and those prayers were with her all her life.
Carlisle does a masterful job of bringing her characters together in a rich way, and telling the story with grace and mercy of how adoption can be a beautiful thing and how there is always hope for redemption in any story. Lila is able to understand that she was always loved, and that love and those prayers have never stopped. This story goes to show that a mother’s love is unending, and sometimes sacrifice is the greatest way a mother can show that love. The bond between a mother and her daughter is precious, and that love and bonding carry with us throughout our life.
This sweet, cozy Christmas story also puts into remembrance of an even greater story of love, when a little over 2000 years ago our Heavenly Father, sent His only son to be born in a stable (because there was no room in the inn). This greatest gift of love and sacrifice teaches us how to love and live a sacrifical life.
So, get cozy in your favorite reading nook, have some coffee (the Donut Shop Peppermint Bark has become a favorite seasonal indulgement of mine), light a candle and wrap up in a cozy blanket. Drift away with Lila and Brady and her story of love, hope and family in this very special must read Christmas story.
The book is available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon and on your Kindle (I read mine on Kindle Unlimited). Simba readily gives this book four paws. Happy Reading!!Once Upon a Christmas Carol By: Melody Carlson

“When a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive.” Alan Paton
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Now that Halloween is past, we are officially entering the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. Starbucks will soon have their Christmas or holiday seasonal drinks, the Christmas trees will soon go up, and plans for a special, memorable Christmas will be under way for many. There are those who for many reasons, however, just strive to get through the next few months. They may have past hurt or trauma from their childhood, painful memories associated with Christmas. Even the Grinch and Ebeneezer Scrooge had a past that led them the point in their stories where they had no Christmas cheer. Melody Carlson, in her new Christmas novella, gives readers a glimpse into how or why this can happen, but with the hope of how a little bit of love, family, and forgiveness can melt even the hardest of hearts.
In Once Upon a Christmas readers are first introduced to Carol Langstrom in Seattle, as she is wrapping up helping her design clients have the “perfect” Christmas. She is on her way to the Bahamas, to escape Christmas and enjoy some much needed sunshine and warmth. Growing up as a Christmas baby, with dysfunctional parents, Carol just tries to get through the Christmas season, so she can begin the New Year doing her design work for staging homes. Packing as light as possible, with her coveted summer clothes she barely has a chance to wear, Carol makes it to the airport and onto her flight admist a weather pattern that is wrecking havoc across the United States. Once on her flight, she feels all is good, until unexpected weather leaves her stranded in Grand Rapids, MI of all places. Without an available hotel room, Carol is stranded. Until she remembers that her mom has an estranged sister living in MI. After some digging and research she finds she is less than an hour from the aunt she has never seen.
Soon, Carol finds herself in a truck with a stranger, named Victor who she assumes is her Aunt’s son. After being pleasantly surprised to learn that he is just a family friend, Carol is taken to her Aunt and is able to meet this relative, and find love and acceptance from a stranger. What was only going to be a simple one night layover until she can reschedule her flight, turns into a Christmas that Carol will not soon forget. She learns about love, forgiveness and family from her Aunt and Victor and his parents. Christmas, Carol realizes, when with those you love is a magical and special time.
Once Upon a Christmas is like finding that perfect Hallmark movie, country Christmas sprinkled with faith and love throughout. This is the perfect novella is perfect for all of those needing to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, and what Christmas love and forgivness looks like. Perfect to cozy up with in front of a fire on a rainy or snowy evening (if you are like me and dont have that coveted fire place, a nice Christmas candle will work (I currently have my Bath and Body Works spiced apple toddy lit). Get those cozy Christmas pajamas and go on a journey to rural Michigan that will lighten your heart and remind you of the true meaning of Christmas. Simba agrees that this is the perfect four paw book to get you into the Christmas spirit, especially if your heart needs a bit of healing this year. This book is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble (I am thankful I was able to check it out from my local library). Happy Reading!!
The Noel Bridge By: Jenny Hale

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 30:21
Life is a journey, and our path is filled with many hills and valleys. For believers, we hold onto the promises of the Lord in scripture that our Sovereign Lord is leading us and directing our paths. As David promises in Psalm 23, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me.” We are not promised easy, just that the Lord, our Good Shepherd will never leave or forsake us. Even when we get lost along the journey, our Heavenly Father will guide us gently back through those he puts in our lives and the places he leads us. In those unexpected places, sometimes, is where you will find the healing and peace that you have been searching for.
The Noel Bridge by Jenny Hale, is a beautifully written Christmas romance, that like many of the books I have read this season is more than just a romance book. Hale takes us to Noel, a small town in the beautiful countryside of Tennessee. Alicia Silver is called back to her hometown in the Smoky Mountains, facing the first Christmas since the death of her beloved fiance, Bo. Reminded of the miraculous bridge, through news stories, Alicia is called to her childhood home to find healing. Having moved away as a teenager, Alicia plans to sneak into town, visit the bridge, and hopefully reconnect with her late fiance. Once she arrives, however, her journey unfolds in a totally unexpected way and she finds healing and hope for her future.
Alicia, on her first night in town, meets Leo Whitaker, owner of the town diner. As she begins to reconnect with friends (both old and young from her childhood) she begins to find herself once more, and a strength and happiness that she has been longing for. Between childhood bestie Evelyn, Leo, and a delightful town of characters, that Alicia bumps into she starts to re-evaluate her life and realize that her heart has never left Noel. She discovers a place for her healing heart, and that all things are possible. For Alicia, the divine intervention she was longing for happens through some unexpected encounters and visits to the covered bridge. She re-discovers herself and that home, family, and friends are the most important thing in life.
As a believer, reading this song reminded me of a popular worship song by elevation worship, “Same God.” We serve the same God of Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, and all throughout history. He answered prayers and he still answers prayers. The Noel Bridge is a beautiful, yet poignant reminder, that our loving Heavenly Father hears our cries, answers our prayers, and is guiding and directing the paths of our journeys.
If you are a fan of Debbie Macomber, Annie Raynes, and Sheila Roberts you will definitely want to add this cozy Christmas romance to your Christmas reading list. Allow yourself to be taken to a place where miracles still happened, and be reminded of putting your trust in a sovereign God who is guiding and directing the steps of your journey. Curl up with your favorite cozy blanket (or you could be like me and convince the hubby that you need a new one this season. I found mine at Home Goods, and feel like I am wrapped in a Hallmark movie with the blankets, skates, and candy canes). Fix a cup of delicious peppermint hot chocolate (a candy cane a must), and curl up and get get lost in the pages of this delightful Christmas romance. You will not want to put it down! Simba wholeheartedly gives this four paws. You can find your copy on Amazon and it is available on Kindle unlimited (where I was able to read this must read holiday romance). Happy Reading!!
The Lighthouse at the Cove By: Amy Clipston

“Home is Where your heart is”
Home, has many definitions and meanings for us all. For some of us it is the place that we grew up, for others it is where we live. Once we can truly realize that home is not just about the four walls or the physical place we live, and open our hearts to those we love, we really find our true home and a inner joy and happiness that truly allows us to reach for all our dreams.
In The Lighthouse at the Cove freelance travel writer Kaiah Ross is looking for that place. Growing up in the middle of her sisters, Kaiah has felt lost and alone since her mom died and her dad abruptly remarried a woman with a houseful of boys. Kaiah his closest to her sister Kam, but finds herself running around writing travel articles. We meet up with Kaiah on her journey from Maryland to Florida hitting small coastal towns for an article she is writing. When her beloved range Rover, Daisy, over heats in the charming pictersque town of Coral Cove, she is stranded. With not much money, and a several week wait (parts for repairs have to be ordered from the UK) Kaiah feels lost and alone.
Enter TDH (tall, dark, handsome) firefighter Reid Turner. After bumping into each other at the local coffee shop, where they are mistakenly given the wrong drinks, Kaiah is smitten. As Reid and Kaiah are introduced, he realizes he might be able to help this young, stranded travel author in return for her help. He has a garage apartment that he agrees to let her stay in while waiting for her car to be repaired, all’s he asks is that she writes some articles to help promote the Cove’s annual festival.
Kaiah agrees, as she feels not only a connection to Reid, but to his sweet and loveable six year old daughter, Piper. As the two bond, Kaiah finds herself falling in love with the town, Reid’s family, and the historical lighthouse. Kaiah feels drawn to the lighthouse, as a small piece of connection to her own late mother and a special lighthouse they had visited before she passed away. When Kaiah learns of the town’s struggle to put on their annual festival, rebuild their beloved elementary school, and desire to renovate the lighthouse, she jumps in with both feet to create a festival that will hopefully turn things around to this beautiful coastal town that is slowly stealing Kaiah’s heart.
As Reid and Kaiah work together on the Light the Darkness festival they find themselves falling in love. Reid loves her devotion to his daughter. As the town comes together with an amazing festival, Reid and Kaiah find themselves slowly healing. Neither of them want to see their time together, but will Reid, Piper, and their beloved town be enough for Kaiah? Can she give up her dreams of working for a big national travel magazine for a small community, for love, and for the hopes of a future together with Reid and Piper? She soon learns, through the hope of a small town, that when you have family and someone to love and cherish, you are not giving up your dreams. A place to call home, and surrounded by people she loves, she discovers, is where she truly belongs.
The Lighthouse at the Cove brings a charming beach town, and the healing power of love and the beach together to bring healing to Reid, Kaiah and sweet Piper. Amy Clipston brings the characters to life, and you will feel like you have made new friends. So, if you are anything like me and you love Christmas, but then are ready for spring you do not want to miss this book coming out December 2, 2025. Curl up in your favorite blanket with your fur babies and be transported to the beach and feel sun wrapped around you as you sink your toes into the warm sand of the beach. Treat yourself to Bath and Body Works At the Beach candle, and you will feel like you are transported to your own happy place. I know my family and I have many happy memories of our beach vacations, and books like this remind me of how grateful I am for my own family and the many happy memories we share.
Simba gives this book four paws (he loved Piper’s adorable cat Ariel and tolerated George, Kaiah’s long lost golden retriever that is returned to her). I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book to read and give an honest review. Happy Reading!!
A Little Paris Christmas: A Delightfully Festive Holiday Escape By: Jennifer Shirk

“There is real beauty in the flaws and normalcy of family that maybe other people take for granted.” Sophia to Mason in ‘A Little Paris Christmas’
Want a holiday rom-com sprinkled with a some Christmas magic? Look no farther than Jennifer Shirk’s newest release A Little Paris Christmas A Delightfully Festive Holiday Escape. From ice skating, hot chocolate with whipped cream, and Festive holiday decor, readers will feel like they are in their own Winter wonderland (the perfect Hallmark Christmas movie).
Sophie Dubois, Chamber of Commerce Director, is all things Christmas. From her life-sized Rudolph yard display to her two amazingly decorated trees cheerful, and extroverted she is the antithesis of Mason Haywood. Mason, a famous author of horror books, is introverted, dark, and brooding. Throw in a mischievous dachshund named Gingersnap, and a delightful cast of secondary characters, and readers will be given special Christmas gift. Jennifer Shirk, through the relationships between characters, and their story, will touch and impact reader’s lives far beyond just the reading of this book and the Christmas season.
Sophie and Mason in their own ways, are each hiding and covering up painful memories from their past. Sophie in all her Clark Griswald decorating, secretly longs for the family that she missed out on, being raised by her beloved maime. She desperately wants to re-create the only time she felt like all the other kids and loved and accepted by her traveling parents – Christmas – the only time they came back home to Paris. Mason, a Scrooge on the outside, is hiding behind the pain of losing his parents 12 years ago and his fiancee just one year ago. He covers up this pain by ironically setting most of his horror novels around the Christmas season. Little Gingersnap, in all his puppy playfulness and adorableness, brings these two neighbors together through his delightfully humorous and mischievous escapades. Together, can the three of them and the rest of The Chamber of Commerce bring some much needed tourism and business to their little resort town and save their jobs?
This is a delightful romantic comedy that Simba gives four paws, “The purrfect rom-com”; and begrudgingly fell in love with the adorable dachshund, Gingersnap. This is the perfect book to cozy up with some hot chocolate (don’t forget to add plenty of whipped cream) while sitting around that beautifully decorated Christmas tree. A book that will remind us all, that what we can’t always judge a person by what is on the outside. People are hiding pains and secrets that we don’t know anything about. Sometimes it takes a dose of love, empathy, and maybe a little Christmas magic to bring out the best in a person. As a Christ-follower it means even more to me as we get ready to approach this Advent Season and Emmanuel – God with us. This book will make you laugh, maybe cry, and decide that you need to haul all those Christmas decorations out of storage and create your own Winter Wonderland. Happy Reading!!

The Christmas Coin By: Lindsay Gibson

“When one door closes another opens. Expect that new door to reveal even greater wonders and glories and surprises. Feel yourself grow with every experience. And look for the reason for it.” Eileen Caddy
The Christmas Coin is that book will stay with me long after I have finished reading it. Readers will come to love the quaint, pictersque New England town of White Bridge, Connecticut. Not just the town, but the characters will touch your heart in such a way that you will consider them friends. Gibson writes this book with such emotional depth and poignancy that you will want to stay up all night finishing it. It is so much more than just the love story of Amelia and Ben: it is the story of family, small town living, and opening one’s heart to new season of life. It is giving us permission to take the time to grieve when we move to a different season of life, but then to embrace that new season and all the hope and joy it offers.
The Christmas Coin begins with ballet dancer Amelia Collins learning the devastating news that she will no longer be able to dance professionally due to an ankle injury. To add to the heartbreak, her twin brother has never seen her dance in her beloved role of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker. On top of this, her family is facing her brother’s fight with leukemia. When Amelia, finds an old farmhouse at a price that seems too good to be true, she jumps in and buys this hidden gem. When she arrives, she sees not only this old farmhouse in need of work, but a huge barn, and acres of beautiful Connecticut scenery.
Amelia, sure her dancing days are behind her, but on her first day in town, she is drawn into one of the town’s many Christmas activities. She witnesses a performance by the town’s dance studio. In a chance meeting with the dance instructor and a young girl by the name of Ava (who happens to be playing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in their own upcoming production), Amelia is drawn into helping Ava prepare for her upcoming performance. While enjoying many of Whitebridge’s many Chritmas traditions (cutting down a tree from the local tree farm, a Christmas train ride, and a special shopping day) Amelia and Ben begin a slow journey to romance. Will the discovery of an old European coin in the attic of her home, and the quest to find the rightful owner put a sudden end to what could be the start of Amelia’s future in White Bridge and the love of a lifetime for Ben and Amelia?
Gibson skillfully, with depth and sensitivity brings the story of Ben and Amelia together, while telling the backstory of the farmhouse and the old, heirloom European coin. You will laugh and cry with Ben and Amelia as they navigate this new season of their lives learning that the future is filled with much hope and possibility. If you want that sweet, Christmas romance that will touch your heart, and leave you a better person after reading, then you must read The Christmas Coin. Allow yourself to be lost in Ben and Amelia’s story and take away the hope it brings for your own future.
This book will be perfect with a cup of peppermint mocha coffee and a Christmas candle (Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint or Peppermint Bark are two I would recommend). Curl up in your favorite Christmas pj’s and blanket and you are reading to dive into this very special cozy Christmas romance. Warning: you might need some tissues, and after meeting Amelia’s mother you might be tempted to go by out your local Hobby Lobby store’s Christmas section. Simba loves this book, and highly recommends it by giving it 4 paws (He thinks Amelia’s sweet cat Mocha is the purrfect character). Happy Reading!!
I am so glad that I have discovered Harpeth Road Press, and authors such as Lindsay Gibson along with Jenny Hale, Savannah Carlysle and many more. Look for their books on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and they are available to read on your Kindle.
A Heart Set Free By: Amy Clipston

“If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you
do not forgive others their trespasses, neighter will your Father forgive you your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15
Fans of Kathleen Fuller, Suzanne Woods Fischer, and Shelley Shephards Gray do not want to miss this cozy Amish romance/mystery by Amy Clipston. I fell in love with Amy Clipston years ago, with her famous Kauffman Amish bakery series. Clipston writes with depth, compassion, and brings her characters to life in the peaceful Amish country of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Learn a bit more about the Amish faith, and living the more simple life where faith, family, and community are central to life. A place, where life looks a bit like the early church from Acts.
In A Heart Set Free, Renee Mast is surprised when she receives a registered letter from her late mammi’s (Amish for grandma) lawyer. Now, Renee must convince her mom and step father to allow her to go back to Pennsylvania after years of estrangement. Why did her late Father suddenly pack up everything, leave friends and family behind and forbid his wife of ever discussing the reason? Renee, feels called by God to head back to her roots and find answers to her past and re-connect with people they left behind. Reluctantly, her mom agrees to give her from April-August to settle the estate.
Upon arrival Bird in Hand, Renee is reunited with her childhood playmates Jerome and Jeannie Graber (the twin children of her mother’s best friend). Jerome has his own demons to wrestle with as he faces the guilt of losing his beloved fiance in a tragic buggy accident. While Renee tries to solve the mystery of her past, and Jerome tries to move forward from his past and forgive himself; Renee finds herself the victim of seriously escalating pranks. Who is responsible for trying to scare her into leaving her inheritance? Is it the realtor hoping to make a huge commission? The strange neighbor across the street who gives Renee the creeps? Or does it have to do with he family secret that devastated her late Father and created a family rift caused by a hardened and unforgiving heart?
Readers if you love clean romance fiction, Christian fiction, Amish fiction, or a good clean romance, you do not want to miss this great book by Amy Clipston. Perfect for snuggling up with a nice cup of your favorite hot tea on that chilly fall afternoon, and getting lost in cozy little mystery. Clipston experttly weaves Renee and Jermome’s story together. I especially loved how the theme of forgiveness is masterfully interwoven in the main plot along touching all the characters in some way. Simba feels this is the perfect four paw book for all. I am very thankful that I was allowed to read this book using my Kindle unlimited subscription. Happy Reading!!
Plain Jane’s Secret Admirer

“Leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:24
Fans of Mindy Steele, Leslie Gould and Jenny Beckstrand will not want to miss out on Anne Blackburn’s newest book Plain Jane’s Secret Admirer which will be released January 1, 2026. The eleventh book in the Heart of the Amish, Blackburne teams up with other great authors of Amish fiction, to give readers cozy, heartfelt, faith filled books with characters they will love. Simba loves Blackburne’s animal and kitty characters and is happy to say that a special feline companion (in his humble opinion) steals the show in her novels.
In Plain Jane’s Secret Admirer readers are taken back to Lizzie’s New Orleans-style french Bakery from Lizzie’s Little Mouse. We finally get to see what happens to Jane Bongrager who has been helping Lizzie with her bakery. When Lizzie goes on her wedding trip, all sorts of things happen, including a missing Little Mouse, Lizzie’s beloved cat. Jane feels horrible as she is able to immediately find her precious cat Secret. Not only is she looking for a lost cat, she is dealing with a secret admirer and the unwelcome advances of newcomer to their beloved Amish community. Samuel Mast has loved Jane since he was a 14 year old schoolboy, but as all 14 year old boys can be immature he inadvertently sticks his crush with the nickname of ‘Plain Jane’. Jane has never escaped from this moniker and has given her years of hurt, and what she feels is missed opportunities to find that special Amish man to settle down with.
Samuel, while having prayed for forgiveness, has never confessed the incident to Jane. He feels the weight of this secret as he wrestles with feelings of wanting to court Jane. Blackburne expertly weaves the fragile journey of Samuel and Jane to true love, with deep, faith filled dialogue between characters (as friends and loved ones of the pair help them along their journey). Animal lovers will fall in love with Samuel and his heart for all animals (and yes, Simba, we will not forget all the scenes with Secret, Little Mouse, and other cats that make an appearance throughout the book).
As reading this book, I am reminded of the importance of Christian community and friendship along our journey. Especially Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” As Christians we are called to live in accountability and walk with our friends, our brothers and sisters in Christ. Sometimes it requires honest conversations where we help them see the truth of God’s word and how to apply it to their lives. Blackburne does this beautifully in the inter character relationships in this heartwarming book.
Fans of Amish fiction, heartfelt, and all cat lovers will not want to miss Plain Jane’s Secret Admirer when it becomes available. Take the time to visit Amish country in a charming romance novel, gives us a picture of our heavenly Father and his desire for us to offer forgivness. For anyone needing hope in their relationships, this book sprinkles that hope throughout, and with some surprising endings for much beloved characters, readers will see that it is never too late for love. Simba says you do not want to miss this book and he hopes you appreciate his favorite characters Secret and Little Mouse, as he very enthusiastically gives this book 4 Paws and nose boop. Happy Reading!!

Heirs and Graces at Highland Hall By: Hannah Lynn

“For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” Luke 8:17
Want to cozy up with a book set by the Scottish Loch? Look no farther than Heirs and Graces at Highland Hall by Hannah Lynn. In her Second book of the Highland Hall series, author Hannah Lynn continues to story of Rebecca Barker and Duncan MacDuffrey. (Don’t worry this can be read as a stand alone or you might want to go back and read Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall). Rebecca, or Bex has left Highland Hall for her office in London where she is still brooding over groundskeepr Duncan MacDuffrey. The reasons they break up become blurred as she is called back to Highland Hall after the passing of Fergus, the beloved lair.
Bex, an accountant is called back to sort out the Laird’s estate with his attorney. What should be a fairly easy transition to Fergus’s nephew, who is very removed from Highland Hall in London turns out to be anything but simple. In his will, Fergus refers to the rightful heir, not mentioning his nephew by name. Bex and the attorney are taxed with going through paperwork to find a decades old secret and determine the rightful heir to Highland Hall.
While this is going on, Bex is navigating confusing feelings for her old love Duncan. Throw in a handsome nephew, who seems interested and Bex is confused. Her and Duncan had broken up for valid reasons (or so she tells herself). Finding herself back in Scotland, however, causes Bex to question her feelings. Throw in a sweet dog, the beautiful Scottish scenery, a love triangle, and a mystery this is the perfect book to cozy up on a cold winter’s night. I highly recommend curling up with a candle (Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireside matches the mood of this book perfectly), a hot cup of tea and your favorite blanket. Get lost in Bex and Duncan’s story. Simba gives this book three paws (there is a Maine Coon kitty and some dogs that make the story much better in Simba’s humble opinion. Happy Reading!!
This book will be available for purchase beginning November 2, 2025. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC to read and review. All opinions are my own.
The Collector of Burned Books By: Roseanna White

- “Things spoken can be forgotten and forgiven, but the written word has the power to change the course of history, to alter our lives.” — Teresa Mummert
As a young girl, historical fiction became a passion of mine. I remember falling in love with authors such as Eugenia Price and Al Lacy. Their civil war books written before, during, and after the Civil War fed my imagination and cultivated a love of history and reading that I carry to this day. My tastes have changed and at this season of life, I have been fascinated by WWII novels with Kate Thompson and her book The Little Wartime Library jumpstarting this new passion of mine. If you love Kate Thompson, Sarah Sundin, and Lynn Austin you will not want to miss Roseanna White’s newest book Collector of Burned Books.
Nazi Germany was able to to spread and have their ideas embraced not only because of their military accomplishments but more importantly through their propoganda and their success at silencing great authors and works of fiction. Basically, any book or author that went against their ideals was verboten or forbidden. In 1940 Paris, Parisans found themselves invaded by Nazi troops. Many authors, Jews, and anyone against Hitler that had escaped the German gestapo and concentration camps now found themselves in danger.
This is where we find ourselves in Collector of Burned Books. Corriene Bastien, a highly intelligent linguistic professor has used the library of these exiled Nazi writers as a place of solace, but also a place where with the help of these very books can help in the Resistance in any way possible. Enter Professor Christian Bauer who is assigned to this library to handle the relocation of France’s libraries. He has his own secrets he is keeping. When the two meet, will they be able to find true love or will the Nazi’s win?
This is more than just a historical fiction novel. Roseanna White enlightens readers to the horrors of the Nazi regime and their desire to create their imagine perfect Aryan race. In an attempt to do so, all ideas, discourse, and most literature must be destroyed for their success. Through real life people like the beloved fictional Corriene and Christian, readers see that many every day people were true heroes of this time. Book lovers will especially be glad they read this book, as it shows the power of the written word and the values and lessons one can learn. I am reminded even more importantly, of the greatest work ever written, The Bible. This book, written by a variety of different men from various backgrounds over a period of 1,500 years has withstood the test of time. This book through divine preservation has survived being banned, being burned, and persecution. I know this book made me appreciate the greatest story ever told. I am so thankful to have been able to read this amazing historical fiction novel.
I encourage fans of historical fiction to pick up a copy of this book (Amazon and Barnes and Noble are two places where it can be found). Curl up reading a tremendous love story, and learn from history at a time when humanity was not at its best. As christians, we can take comfort in the words of Christ, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”
Simba strongly feels this is a 4 paw book, and that everyone should read and learn and grow from Roseanna White’s book. Happy Reading!!
To Love a Beast By: Karen Witemeyer

“Think of your Bible, the cover worn and tattered in places. Yet, I’d wager you value that Bible more than any of the other books in our collection. It’s not the cover that inspires love, Everett. It’s what’s inside..” Karen Witemeyer in To Love a Beast
Every young girl grows up loving a good fairy tale, where the princess finds her Prince Charming and happily ever after. Karen Witemeyer has masterfully created a series of historical fiction fairy tales, that readers such as myself will fall in love with as they not only re-live their childhood, but are able to see the true author of the greatest love story ever. Karen masterfully with humor and grace takes readers back to a time in American history where chilvary was still practiced, and family and faith were important.
I started on my fairy tale journey with Karen Witemeyer in her Texas Ever After series and was so excited that she decided to continue her fairy tales with To Love a Beast her first book in Once Upon a Time in Texas. Fans of Christian fiction (Pepper Basham, Mary Connealy, and Jen Turano).
Take a trip to Texas where Everett Griffin has escaped after an injury to his face scars him not only on the outside but the inside as well. He has hidden himself in his new home becoming a recluse with only his beast of a dog and staff as company. Enter Callista Rosenfeld as she journeys to his home to bind the books in his massive and well loved library in place of her injured father. Much like the much loved fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast, Callista finds herself in a situation where she is not truly welcomed by Everett, even though the dog and the staff welcome her with open arms. Throughout her time there, she manages to break through the walls of Everett’s defenses and discovers another true kindred spirit and artist. Everett, learns that what is on the inside is much more important than the outside.
This is a beautiful love story and reminder that with God as the author of our story all things are possible. Everett feels that no one can ever love him, because of his physical scars; and Callista is afraid to take the leap of faith because of her father and and not feeling good enough because of his family’s wealth. Reading their journey in faith and falling in love, I was constantly reminded of the story of David. How when Samuel went to annoint the next king of Israel. Of all the sons of Jesse, David was the youngest and based on his outward appearance was the least likely to be picked as king. If Samuel followed his own thoughts he would have surely anointed David’s oldest brother. He is stopped by the Lord and reminded of this all important truth: “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” I Samuel 16:7.
This is a book that is definitely worth reading. It is available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon and Amazon Kindle. I urge readers to take the time to journey back in time (both in American History and to their own childhood where you still believed in fairy tales). More importantly, the truths that Karen Witemeyer brings out through the memorable dialogue between characters will remind readers of the the love that their Heavenly Father has for each of them. Simba also agrees that this is the puurfect 4 paw book to curl up with and escape with Everett and Callista and their dog (even though he said an orange cat would have been just as good). Happy Reading!!
Friends, I also have to add that I was able to enjoy this amazing book on my Kindle that my loving husband surprised me with for my Birthday. What a blessing it has been and I love my Kindle unlimited subscription allowing me to read many great Christian romance books.
Wishing For Christmas By: Caroline Stowe

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. The best is yet to come.” Zig Ziglar
Fans of Debbie Macomber, RaeAnne Thayne, Annie Rains, and Jenny Halem make room for debut author Caroline Stowe. Scrolling through social media the other day, I saw a post about this debut author, and of course I could not resist another Christmas romance. I am so thankful I was able to get my paws on this delightful, tender, uplifting, cozy Christmas story. Caroline Stowe takes readers on a magical Christmas journey in the New England town of Cranberry Pines. There is romance (with cookie baking and sledding thrown in) along with friendships and family. Readers will not be the same after reading Wishing For Christmas.
How many times have we wished that we could skip through the hard times of life and be on the other side of a difficult time or situation? I know I have. Clara Jenkins certainly does when she learns that her boyfriend of just a few months is about to be deployed right before their first Christmas together. At 30, Clara is tired of wasting time waiting for that happily ever after. She feels like she wasted many years with her on again off again romance with her ex, who also happens to be her boss. She is asked to shadow him for a year, before taking over as hotel manager. She hears stories of her beloved Grams love story and how they fall in love at Christmas. She is determined that this Christmas she will fall in love with new boyfriend Brent McNally. Then he drops the bombshell that he will be deployed unexpectedly for a year. Rushing to her grandmother for comfort, Clara sees a special ornament of her grandparents. She hastily wishes to not have to experience the next year and be on the other side of Brent’s deployment.
Unexpectedly, her wish comes true. She soon comes to realize that this might not be a good thing. While she has missed out on all the heartache and hard parts of the past year, she realizes all of the little things she has missed. She realizes the time spent with people and the joys of building memories (big and little moments of life that we all take for granted). She learns that you can not take life for granted, and that time with people is so worth it. More importantly, she learns that part of one’s love story is the journey and the memories that you make a long the way. I was reminded so much of something someone said from Bible study the other night while reading this book, “Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you about the destination.” She comes to realize that in life sometimes one needs to be patient, and wait for those good things (“Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…Isaiah 40:31 kept popping into my head throughout reading Clara’s story). She also learns important pieces of her grandmother’s story when she takes the time to search for answers.
Will Clara get the chance to experience her own love story? Go out and get your own copy of Wishing for Christmas at Barnes and Noble and Amazon (available on Kindle if you have Kindle). Cuddle up by a Cozy fire (or in your favorite chair) with a nice cup of peppermint hot chocolate and whipped cream. Journey through a Cranberry Pines Christmas and discover the joys of family and the season. I challenge you all to cherish the memories and time with your family and friends this season. I am reminded of a line from my favorite movie (Grown-ups) “In life the first act is always exciting. The Second Act….that is where the depth comes in.”
Simba says that he enthusiastically gives this book 4 paws, and to not forget your fury animal companions this Christmas season. Happy Reading!!
A special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC to read and review.
Her Second Chance Christmas By: Isabella Bruno

“As Iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17
As a young girl growing up, my parents did not always monitor the books I read. I read through the children’s section (or so I thought fairly quickly) and being an only child with older parents I was forced to grow up sooner than most. So sadly, I read a lot of harlequin romance novels (especially the ones with babies). As an adult, it thrilled me to see that harlequin has a series of love inspired books, and I have read many of them over the years. These short little romance novels (great for having in the car as waiting to pick up kids, or at a time you just want a quick read) have impacted me and my faith journey so much. Many of them have so many biblical truths sprinkled throughout, making them well worth your read. Isabella Bruno does not disappoint in Her Second Chance Christmas. Her cozy little Christmas romances shows that it is never too late to come home, and forgiveness and restoration of relationships are always possible.
This season, many of the Christmas books I have read, have had a lot to do with the mother/daughter relationship and the impact of that relationship on us throughout our lives. I have been so blessed to have 3 beautiful daughter, and a bonus daughter in my sweet daughter-in-law, and in this middle age season of life, this book and the others have really gave me pause to think. I have looked back over my own relationship with my mother, and realize that she might have had some things in her past affecting her parenting. I know that I have, and I am so thankful for a sovereign God who has been working in and through our lives and the precious blood of His son that covers all my sins and faults. Through the lense of scripture, these books have taught me the importance of forgiving my own mother, and the importance of my story and legacy to share with my own children. I will always remember the line from Eric Neider’s song Faithful, “Even when I’m not, your’re faithful.” As my old pastor used to say, “If it’s repeated, it’s important.” God has been speaking to me, and these books have helped me in ways that I can not even describe. If you find yourself in this season, or wanting hope that God can heal all relationships, I would strongly recommend this book, The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury, Ten Christmases Without You by Jenny Hale, Otherwise Engaged by Susan Mallery, and I’ll be Home for Christmas by Jenny Bayliss.
In Her Second Chance Christmas Penelope (Penny) Shay returns to her childhood home of Cedar Ridge. She left home when she was a young teenager after the death of her mom. She left her brother, high school boyfriend Matthew Banks, her beloved nanna, and many other friends. Struggling with her faith, she is now faced with a health crisis of her own and the break-up of her boyfriend. She returns home to help her brother with his new bakery and to sort out her own life. When her best friend returns home as well (thanks to an initiative by the town mayor to welcome residents back who are willing to start their own business) she is forced to face some truths about her own life, her faith, and her health. She learns the importance of faith, family in community in this sensitively written Christmas romance, showing readers that coming home is possible (in more ways than one). This story touches on forgiveness, family, grief, and healing.
As Simba wholeheartedly gives this book four paws, I would recommend cozying up in your favorite Christmas pajamas, a blanket, hot cocoa, and some gingerbread cookies. I was definitely touched by Penny’s story and reminded of the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, and His sovereign plan for my life. Happy Reading!!
This book is now available at Amazon and on Amazon Kindle for purchase. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC to read and review.
A Winter of Sweet Secrets by: Heidi McCahan

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) ESV
I love the book of Jeremiah, and this verse, and I felt it fit very well in Heidi McCahan’s newest winter novel. Fans of harlequin love suspense books will enjoy this charming cozy winter book, that takes you to the remote town of Evergreen, Alaska.
The story begins as Jovi Wright is called home by her older sister calls Jovi home to help with the Evergreen Candy Company, a family legacy started by their grandparents. With their grandfather no longer with them, their beloved Grammie has just been moved to a memory care facility. Jovi is recovering from a break-up with her fiance and her sister and husband are struggling in their marriage. Compounded on top of all of this Jovi’s parents want to sell their beloved family company. Jovi, who has been away for years as a traveling nurse swoops in feeling like if they just find the salted Carmel chew recipe, the company can remain in the family.
Flying home, Jovi meets Burke Solomon, nephew to Grammie’s sworn enemy. Trying to navigate family tensions, a missing recipe, and a family mystery make Jovi’s desire to and plans to save the company seem hopeless. With unexpected help from Burke (throw in some romance as well) Jovi learns that our Soverign Lord is always working and has an amazing plan for our lives. Her and her sister will see God’s goodness and it is all in His time not our time.
A Winter of Sweet Treats is that cozy little romance book that readers will love escaping to small town America, and being reminded of the goodness of our ever Faithful, loving heavenly Father. Light up that favorite candle (Bath and Body Works Cinnamon Carmel Swirl goes perfectly with this sweet romance story), grab your favorite candy and some sweet hot chocolate as you take an unforgettable journey to Alaska. I pray that you will be reminded of God’s love and care for you and find rest at the center of His will for you life. Simba enjoyed this special winter novel and gives it four paws. Happy Reading!!

Otherwise Engaged by: Susan Mallery

“The relationship between parents and children, but especially between mothers and daughters, is tremendously powerful, scarcely to be comprehended in any rational way.” — Joyce Carol Oates
If you are a Susan Mallery fan, you will not want to miss out on her newst novel, Otherwise Engaged available November 4, 2025. A Merry Little Lie by Sarah Morgan

“When you are honest you have a great deal of power. You have the power to choose, the power to change, and the power to grow.” Gary Zukav
Fans of Susan Mallery and Jill Shalvis will adore Sarah Morgan, if you have not already had the delight of reading one of her books. I fell in love with her a few Christmases ago when I read her novel The Christmas Escape.
In A Merry Little Lie Becky has lived the last year hidden away from her beloved twin sister Rosie, who married her co-worker and Declan. At their wedding a little less than a year ago, Becky faced with the thought of losing her beloved twin to marriage, fantasizes her self in love with Declan. To protect herself, and allow Rosie the happy ever after she deserves, Becky quit her job, moved out on her own, and has faced a lonely and unfilling year. Rosie, baffled at the abrupt exit of her beloved twin, is struggling being married to the love of her life who happens to be her polar opposite. He is so smart, together, and she is beginning to wonder what he sees in her. Declan, who is not one with a lot of words and fears losing Rosie, has ended up pushing her away in recent weeks. Throw in older brother, Jaimie and his new love, Haley (both of whom have a huge secret announcement to make) the Balfour siblings all head home for a family Christmas.
Leading up to Christmas, the Balfour parents are also dealing with life changing events, and struggles that they vow to keep from their children. Becky and Rosie must battle a snowstorm to make it home, leading Becky to have an unexpected travel companion in her childhood best friend Will. Becky, afraid of a letting her confused feelings for Declan out, blurts out that her and Will are seriously dating. As each sibling explores complex adult relationships and marriages, they learn that the truth is the only way for them to grow and embrace a future filled with love and joy. Readers will not be disappointed by Sarah Morgan’s newest novel as she continues to weave complex adult and family relationships together into a beautiful story of self-discovery and redemption. True love will win out, and readers will discover that it doesn’t just happen, but requires depth, honesty, and work.
Don’t forget to grab a copy of A Merry Little Lie wherever books are sold. I want to give a special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC to read and give an honest review. Simba gives this book three paws! Happy Reading!!

“Bookshops are dreams built of wood and paper. They are time travel and escape and knowledge and power. They are, simply put, the best of places.” – Jen Campbell
Another beautiful, and heartfelt cozy romance by beloved author Denise Hunter. Set in the picturesque town of Grandville, North Carloina; The Second Story Bookshop reminds readers that all things are possible with the help of a beloved bookstore and family. Shelby Thatcher is devastated by the loss of her beloved Gram, and is left in shock when she discovers that the bookstore she devoted her life to with her grandmother is not all hers. She only inherited half of the bookstore, and her ex-boyfriend Gray Briggs has inherited the other half. Gray Briggs grew up in the shadow of his alcholic father, and has had to bear the stigma and shame of his father’s mistakes. When as young teenagers, Shelby opens her heart to him, they discover an unexpected shared love of reading and books. When Gray’s hopes for a college scholarship were dashed, he did the only thing he thought was possible and left behind his life in Grandville for the military. In doing so he breaks the heart of his one and only true love, Shelby.
Years later, when Shelby’s beloved grandmother dies these two find themselves thrown together in a town that does not want to forgive Gray of any real and imagined sins. With the whole town against him, Gray agrees to give Shelby one month to help untangle the financials of the book store, and to teach her that end, and then to leave town, and let Shelby have her beloved book store. Unbeknownst to these two, the book store is in financial shambles. Will they be able to work together to save the town bookstore? Will Gray find forgiveness and acceptance from the town, Shelby’s family, and more importantly Shelby’s family?
Fans of Christian fiction will love this sweet, small town romance as it focuses on love and forgiveness. Readers will get glimpses into secondary storylines through the characters of the town, and Shelby’s family. Readers will see that there is no time line on forgiveness, and all things are possible. Sometimes, we just have to wait on the Lord and His timing. Our sovereign Lord works all things out for His glory in very unexpected ways. This is a perfect romantic read, for those of you who want to spend a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon resting, and will allow you to reflect on the goodness of God, His faithfullness and the even greater forgiveness we find in Him. Simba whole heatedly gives this book four paws. Look for this book and other Denise Hunter books at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Happy Reading!
A special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC to read and review. All opinions are my own.
The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury
“A daughter is just a Little Girl who grows up to be your best friend” Author Unknown
For many fans of Christian fiction, and Christmas Fiction a Karen Kingsbury novel is like cozying up with your favorite blanket and a long lost friend. Her newest Christmas novel will not disappoint. Her depth and knowledge of scripture and love of the Lord shine through when she writes. Her characters are rich and grow as they seek the Lord and His will for their lives.
In The Christmas Ring we first meet Vanessa Mayfield and her beloved daughter Sadie on a ski trip. Vanessa is raising her daughter as a widow, having lost their beloved husband and father in the Middle East. When Vanessa loses her beloved family ring on the ski slopesthat her great grandfather had found in France on D-day she never loses hope that the beloved family ring will be found. To her, the ring possesses only great sentimental value.
Fast forward four years, and Vanessa takes her beloved daughter to college. Unsure of what to do with herself in this new phase of life, Vanessa decides to take a detour to an antique shop on her way home. There she meets Ben Miller the owner’s son of this unique antique store. In only a way that Karen Kingsbury is able to do, she weaves together a story of faith, family, hope with God guiding their steps and whispering truth into their lives.
In circumstances that can only be orchestrated by a sovereign God, Vanessa’s ring unexpectedly turns up in the Miller antique store. It happens as Ben and Vanessa are falling in love and Vanessa and her daughter Sadie are learning to navigate their changing changing mother daughter relationship. Ben has to quickly convince his father to not sell the ring that is actually worth more than Vanessa had thought. Kingsbury wraps this story up beautifully and it is a great reminder of Romans 8:28 “And 34 know that for those who love Hod all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (ESV).
This book is perfect for all those moms like me who are struggling with growing older and watching our beloved children grow up and find their own paths in this world. I am reminded of words of wisdom from King Solomon , “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6) ESV. Also we are reminded, that as mother’s we will always have a special bond with our adult daughters and that connection and love while it may change never completely goes away. I challenge you to cozy up with your favorite Christmas coffee (Starbucks has a hazlenut hot cocoa that I am looking forward to trying). It reminds me of past Christmases with my beloved three daughters and the homemade hot chocolate in special Christmas mugs (dont forget the candy canes and peppermint sprinkles). Happy Reading!!
A special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC to read and review. Simba gives this book 4 paws! It is now available for purchase wherever books are sold

Final Approach By: Lynette Eason

“For Nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, not is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” Luke 8:17 ESV
There are so many scriptures of true, selfless love throughout the Bible, I could list so many and they all would tie to this book in some way. One that kep coming to my mind is John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (ESV) Love is not selfish nor does it seek to benefit self. In this Lake City Heroes book by Lynette Eason Kristine has to come to grip with a father who does not love in this way. She has always assumed her Father to be controlling and hard to get along, but she has never truly grasped or understood the depths or links he would go to fulfill his psychotic fantasies.
Kristine, her friends, and potential love interest Andrew are on a flight to the sandy beaches of Florida for some much needed rest and relaxation. Then the unthinkable happens! An attempted hijacker on their plane sets off a series of events that Kristine and Andrew were not expecting. They each must face demons in their past, forgive themselves, and find rest and peae in the arms of the Good Shepherd, the only one who can provide that rest.
This is a fast paced read, that will have readers on the edge of their seat until the final pages. Lynette Eason weaves so much spiritual truth into this book, and readers will feel like taking a moment to reflect on and look at their own hearts and motivations (I know I was). In her uniuqe and spell-binding way, readers offers readers a glimpse into the psyche of a truly evil person, along with glimpses into the minds of those who have got caught up in evil for a myriad of reasons. With all that we face in our world, this book was a solid reminder, that Our God is sovereign and on His throne. Evil will not triumph, and all will be brought into the light. As believers we can cling to an eternal hope and an eternal kingdom where there is no night, and the only light we need is of the Father and his beloved Son.
Fans of Patricia Bradley, and Eliazabeth Goddard will love this novel in Lynette Eason’s Lake City Heroes novel (can be read as a stand alone). The characters are rich and dynamic, and she weaves so much truth about good and evil into her book. I was reminded of many verses after reading this, and motiviated to do better and to put away the selfish desires of my flesh. Simba says readers do not want to miss this new book that is available for purchase now, and gives it four paws. Happy reading!!

Holly and Nick Hate Christmas by Betsy St. Amant

“Why my soul are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my savior and my God.” Psalm 42:5
The Christmas Advent season is one of: joy, hope, peace, excitement, and anticipation for many people. For me, it is my favorite time of the year – and I can not wait for that Christmas music and Christmas movies (classics and new ones on Hallmark and Great American Family). I do realize, however, that there are others that even if they celebrate it they are going through the motions as they are hiding pain, or grief. Then there are others, like Holly and Nick in our book, who are self-proclaimed Grinches for a myiad of reasons. In this heartfelt rom-com St. Amant brings these two individuls who proclaim to hate Christmas together, in a place that seems to be taken directly out of a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Holly, a Christmas baby, grows up the middle of five children, and as an adult is still struggling to find her place in the midst of siblings and in-laws. She feels overlooked by her parents, especially her mother; and having a Christmas birthday only adds to that feeling. (As many of you with birthdays close to Christmas can relate to the Birthday being forgotten or celebrated as part of Christmas). Things become worse for the soon to be 30 year old as she loses her job just days before Christmas. Feeling lost and broke, she allows her older brother to convince her to join him and his wife at the family farm for what he promises to be a quiet Christmas. The promise of free food and a date with her brother’s handsome friend seals the deal.
Nick can not believe his luck! Trying to start a non-profit for at risk boys, he has previously approached Ryan’s parents for support. They have an idea that can make his dreams come true sooner rather than later. Also, hating Christmas for his own private reasons of parents who were more concerned about image than the actual love of family; Nick believes he can escape the holidays with a good friend, work on his non-profit, and have a date with his friend’s sister.
Well, what could go wrong. In typical rom-com fashion everything that could go wrong does! Ryan and Holly’s other siblings show up, Holly over hears a private discussion between the friends and thinks that Nick is only going out with her for her brother (and as readers all know it is always deeper and more complex than it looks at the beginning). Holly decides to detract from her feelings of hurt and worthlessness and become the Christian fairy just to get back at Nick. What follows is a delightfully funny and warm tale woven together as only Betsy St. Amant toghether as she brings these two not only together takes them down a healing journey as they discover the true meaning of Christmas. With delightful secondary characters (that all readers from a big family can relate to) Holly and Nick Hate Christmas forces readers as to come to terms with their own selfishness as the characters grow and change. I know for me, I had to realize that I always want to make Christmas about me and have a mental checklist of what I think it should be (and other special ocassions). This book helped me to realize that God has just called me to love my husband, children, and family deeply and to honor Him in all and that is where true joy comes from.
Fans of Christian fiction, Chrismas fiction, rom-coms will delight in this heartwarming Christmas tale of two young people finding the true meaning of Christmas and a lifetime of love and family along the way. If you love Denise Hunter, Becky Wade, and Toni Shiloh you will love Betsy St. Amant (if you have not already read her books). Cozy up with some yummy Christmas cookies, some warm apple cider, and that perfect Christmas candle (Bright Christmas morning from Bath and Body Works is a good one) and drift away on a funny yet inspirationl Christmas journey. Simba enthusiastically gives this book four paws.
I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced readers copy to read and review. This book will be available for purchase on 09/16/2025. Happy Reading!!

Mistletoe and Mayhem By Janice Thompson

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; and when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43:2-3a ESV)
Fans of cozy romance novels with a touch of mystery, and fans of Christmas fiction will not want to miss Janice Thompson’s third book in the Little Red Mysteries series. This book can be read as a stand alone (I have yet to read the other books in this series, but after this one, I will be sure to get my paws on them.) If you are longing for a little Christmas nostalgia and focus on family and traditions this is the perfect book for you.
27 year old Raelynn Hadley is planning her dream wedding to her longtime crush and boyfriend, Mason. The problem is, he is acting awfully strange. Missed texts, and missed appointments, Raelynn is starting to worry that he will leave her hanging at the altar. Raelynn has been planning her dream wedding (since she was 7) to be married on the Hadley ranch, near sunset to get those perfect sunset wedding pictures. Everyone thinks she is crazy as the wedding is in December, just days after Christmas. With fears of freezing guests and what seems to be a reluctant groom, what more could go wrong? Well, throw in a fire and a sudden unexpected deluge of rain on Christmas Eve, Raelynn is beside herself with worry. Will Raelynn have the wedding of her dreams to the love of her life Mason?
Thompson weaves their precious story together throwing in some darling secondary characters that readers will love and appreciate. Raelynn’s mom learns that part of raising children is letting them go and live the life that God has called them to be, and that it is not the end of a relationship, but only the beginning of something new and wonderful. Raelynn learns that God is always working out the minute details and that she needs to let go and trust.

Revised and Updated Twelve Extraordinary Women Workbook by John MacArthur

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14a ESV)
Those of you who loved the late John MacArthur and his writings will not want to miss this updated edition companion worksheet to his novel Twelve Extraordinary Women (which I have yet to read). I do remember reading Twelve Ordinary Men by MacArthur years ago and being moved and encouraged in my walk. I love how John presents biblical truths in easy to understand terms, and also being rich in scripture, giving readers a strong biblical base. In this new workbook Bible scholars both new and young to the faith will delight in the journey he leads you on. In full disclosure, I read this text on my own, and while I gained a lot from that, I long to join with other women in a Bible study where I feel I could glean even more from this text.
From Eve, the mother of all living, to Lydia (Paul’s female convert after he received the Macedonian Call) – readers will get a glimpse into the heart of our Heavenly Father’s steadfast love and faithfulness. We will see his sovereignty through each of the 12 women as He is writing their story. MacArthur then applies the lessons from each of these women to us today, and how we can use their examples in our own spiritual journey. Each of these women, and each of us today, are created in the image of God (Imago Dei), but born into a fallen world of sin. We each have our own struggles and have sinned and that is when the extraordinary happens -God stepped into each of their lives weaving his greater story of redeeming the world, into their own personal redemption story. The author and perfector of our faith writes these human women into His bigger story of redemption and grace. He wants the same for you and I. As he has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
What is your story? Are you struggling with doubts and fears? Do you feel alone? Are you in need of encouragement to your Heavenly Father? Take heart, we serve the same God today that stepped into each of these women’s story throughout the pages of scripture. Take comfort in God’s character and remember that God does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). I am also reminded of the song Same God, by Elevation Worship (which we sung in church this morning). We can all take comfort that God is Sovereign, on His Throne, and is still working in and through us today. No matter or past, or present struggles, God loves you!
As I was reading this book, I have also been blessed to be going through the book of Genesis and reminded of some of the same themes found throughout this book (like my older pastor always says, “If it’s repeated, it’s important). We are all created in God’s image our story is part of His bigger story. He just asks us to surrender in faith, and TRUST in Him, the Good Shepherd.
I give special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC to read and give an honest review. I now plan to purchase a paper copy and find some women to do an in depth Bible study with them going through this book (we always need community and encouragement of other believers). I pray that you will find this book helpful on your own spiritual journey-through this scripturally rich text full of much insight and Biblical teaching.
This is most definitely a four paw book by Simba. We pray that you will take this quote by Ann Vaskamp with you “God is the word, the author of our story, and He keeps writing the story until the last line is a good line.”

Sense and Suitability By Pepper Basham

Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” KJV
If you love clean, Christian romance with a dash of humor, you will adore Pepper Basham (if you haven’t already discovered this beloved author. Fans of Jan Turano, and Karen Witemeyer will love Pepper Basham’s sweet humor and the way she weaves gospel truths throughout her novels. In her newest book, Sense and Suitability, Basham does not disappoint. Set in England, regency fans will not want to miss this newest novel. (Jane Austin fans will love her references to the beloved author throughout the pages).
Pepper Basham has such a unique way of bringing her characters to life – both their good and bad character traits – so readers are able to identify with them without feeling preached at. In Sense and Sensibility, Emmeline Lockhart and Simon Reeves began a courtship, and were even secretly planning to become engaged. That is until Simon’s world comes crashing down around him. Fast forward two years and Emme (Emmeline) while trying to overcome a broken heart has also began breaking societal rules by taking her future into her own hands writing gothic style romances under a male pseudonym – with the desire of supporting herself and having no need for a husband.
Simon, on the other hand, needs a wife quickly (a wealthy one to boot). Simon has not only unexpectedly inherited the title of Viscount of Ravencross, but his father and uncle’s debts. Then when his mother passes away, he becomes guardians to his three younger siblings. He know has three precocious children, a crumbling estate, and massive gambling debts. His older sister has run away, and after two years of chasing her across England, Simon has returned as the black sheep. He is not only responsible for bring back his family fortune and good name, but building the fragile bridges of relationships with his impressionable siblings.
Emme, at this point, can only offer Simon friendship and some help and advice along the way. Although a gentle woman, with a small dowry, it is not near what Simon needs (what makes the most sense). Throw in some well meaning Aunts, and Simon and Emme are thrown on the path that is what society dictates and what looks good on paper based on societal norms and expectations.
That, however readers, is not the end of their story. Pepper brilliantly weaves God’s sovereignty throughout; and more importantly how God’s story intersects with our story creating a beautiful story by the author and perfector of our faith. God has a plan, and his ways and thoughts are not our ways and thoughts. Through friends dear friends and a little help thrown in from Jane Austin’s own Sense and Sensibility, Simon and Emme are reminded to trust in God to finish their story. As they grow, they begin to learn to trust each other once again, learning with God all things are possible. If we give God our hearts desires-He fulfills them in unexpected ways (more than we ever thought or imagined possible).
Pepper Basham has become one of my favorite authors, and this newest book scheduled for publication on October 14, 2025 does not disappoint. With her humor and complex characters, Basham always weaves together a beautiful and touching romance – always pointing to the greatest story teller ever. After reading this, I was led to reflection on the greatest love story of all found in scripture: God’s redemption story set into motion from the beginning of time in Genesis.
Simba gives this book 4 paws and loves Midas (the cat) and Blast (pet frog) who make occasional, yet delightful appearances throughout. This is that perfect regency romance to curl up with in your favorite chair and be taken on a journey back in time with characters that will touch your heart and lighten your spirit. I want to give a special thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC to read and review. Happy Reading!!

A Ferry Merry Christmas By: Debbie Macomber

“Family is the ultimate source of strength. Together, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness.’ (Graciousquotes.com)
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, and I have many cherished traditions with my husband and kids. From decorating the tree, picking out that special ornament, to our family Christmas pj’s – we have a many special things we look forward to (and don’t forget those once a year favorite foods and goodies). For me, personally, in addition to the fun family moments I look forward to binge watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and reading all the new Christmas romance – and Debbie Macomber’s newest Christmas novella is always at the top of my list.
Oh the hustle and bustle of the most wonderful time of year! The cherished family recipes, the holiday parties and get togethers, and that all important visit to Saint Nick. In A Ferry Merry Christmas, with just days before Christmas, passengers embark on a ferry in Puget Sound heading toward Seattle, all with important places to be and friends and family to see. Excitement and nerves run high, as holiday travelers anxiously await their arrival to Seattle.
Young Olivia eagerly hops on boards, wanting to tell Santa her biggest holiday wish. While her mom Beth is trying desperately to hold it all together, who do they run into but Logan, Olivia’s dad and Beth’s estranged husband. Will Olivia’s wish become a reality? Elderly Victoria has been estranged from her twin sister Veronica over their late mother’s China. Will a special tin of their mom’s famous gingerbread cookies bridge the gap? Then we meet young and stressed out James, whose wife is in the early stages of labor with their first baby. Will he make it on time, or will she be forced to deliver their bundle of joy all alone in a strange new city?
Central to the story are Avery (an accountant) and navy man Harrison. They are both on the ferry to spend Christmas with their respective siblings. Avery and her brother Reed are facing their first Christmas without their beloved grandmother. Harrison is eager to see his sister Kellie, and enjoy some leave away from the navy. Avery and Harrison spot each other upon boarding. While there is mutual acknowledgement of the other, Avery has vowed to never date another man in uniform, especially a sailor.
Well someone (could it be Avery’s deceased grandmother?) has other ideas. Their ferry stalls in the middle of the waterways. As tempers run high, people realize they are not going to make it to Seattle any time soon. Will it be too late for Victoria and Veronica? Will Logan and Beth be able to realize that that they belong together and their family is the most important thing? Will Harrison and Avery realize they do have a future together? With stress and tempers running high, the passengers come together thanks in part to a very special tin of gingerbread cookies and the imminent birth of James’ baby. Everyone is brought together in delightful, yet unexpected ways. And on shore; a chance encounter between Reed and Kellie while waiting for the ferry brings an unexpected twist to their stories as well. Time, and a dose of that all important Christmas magic touch the lives of these delightful, and relatable characters in Macomber’s trademark storytelling.
If you have loved Mrs. Miracle, and other heartwarming classics from Debbie Macomber, you will not want to miss A Ferry Merry Christmas! Cozy up with that special blanket, that all important Christmas candle in the background (Bath and Body Works Spiced Gingerbread would be the perfect companion to this delightful story). Don’t forget the all important Christmas cookies. You will treasure this heartwarming novella – which Simba says is definitely 4 paw worthy. Happy Reading!
A special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Ballantine books for this advanced readers copy to read and review. You will be able to purchase this book on October 21, 2025.

C is for Courting by Shelley Shephard Gray

The perfect read for fans of Amish fiction. Fans of Beth Wiseman and Amy Clipston will fall in love with Shelly Shepard Gray. The long awaited conclusion in Shephard Gray’s Amish ABC’s series will not leave readers disappointed, but can it can also be read as a stand alone. After reading the stories of Kelsey and Johnny (the youngest Schrock siblings), Gray gives us the exciting conclusion by bringing the siblings’ story full circle. This book is a treat as it all comes together, and readers finally discover what choices Beth and Martin make (both in faith and relationships).
Gray does an excellent job of blending both the Amish and English worlds together with believable and authentic characters. She also touches on the age old dilemma of sibling relationships, and how adult siblings can maintain a connection as life takes them down different paths. The most important lesson, I feel, is that while man tries to plan and directs their own steps, God alone is sovereign and He is always working. He has a plan for your life, and we have to surrender in faith and trust to that plan,
In Beth’s story, she comes to her grandparent’s Amish farm pregnant, alone, and at a cross roads (both spiritually and professionally. She has felt the pull to be Amish, but only once face with being an unwed mother, does she start to come to realize what is really important. When she meets Junior, owner of a successful candle making business, is she able to see that there is more to life than being at the top professionally. Their sweet, yet unexpected journey to romance will have readers eagerly turning the pages to find out the rest of their story.
Gray also finishes the story line of eldest sibling Martin (which has been weaved throughout the first two books of the series). While Martin has fallen in love with his grandparent’s neighbor Pattie (who happens to be Amish); he just can’t seem to fit into the Amish world no matter how hard he tries. Knowing the consequences for Patti leaving the Amish faith as a baptized believer, Martin assumes that the end of the road has come from them. Thankfully, Patti sees something, and realizes that she can still have faith in the Lord even if she is no longer Amish.
Gray weaves the conclusion of the Schrock siblings together with love, and a lot of mercy and grace thrown in. For those who have siblings (being an only child the sibling bond escapes all my understanding), Gray shows that work and effort is needed to maintain that bond when the busyness of life happens. For believers, more importantly than being a physical family you are all also a part of the family of God (Ephesians 2:19).
Simba gives this book 3 paws, and thoroughly enjoyed the special appearances of Junior’s chocolate labs Clyde and Honor. For me this was a special book, showing the bonds of siblings throughout life (as a mother of 4 my prayer is that they will be close throughout life). Not only does she touch on the bond of siblings, she integrates the importance of reconciliation forgiveness between adult children and their parents. The Schrock parents were not always as involved as the siblings would have liked. Gray illustrated, through them, how forgiveness is possible and what a beautiful gift reconciliation can be.
I want to give a special thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy of C is For Courting. Look for this cozy, heartwarming Amish fiction novel for purchase October 28, 2025. Perfect for A lazy Sunday afternoon with your favorite baked goods and some coffee (I absolutely love the Donut shop brand duos coconut and mocha with some white chocolate mocha creamer). Happy Reading!

A Merry Irish Christmas by Clodagh Murphy

“You are the main character in the story of your life, but other people are the main character in their own lives. And sometimes you can find healing just by playing a supporting role in someone else’s experience.” Timothy Knox
A rom-com that fans of Debbie Macomber’s Trading Christmas will absolutely love! Readers are introduced to Mary, a young woman living away from her home and family in Ireland. She is in a relationship that she is trying to make work, even though he definitely still has feelings for his ex. When they unexpectedly break up right before Christmas, Mary is stuck in New York without friends or family. On a whim, she decides to buy a last minute plane ticket home and surprise her family. The key word is surprise, as her loving family has the same idea and has arranged for a house swap with a handsome American tv star so they can spend Christmas with their beloved daughter. Mary, walking into an empty house is doubly confused when a strange man enters the house.
Evan has no desire to be around anyone this Christmas season, as he is nursing his own break up with fellow co-star in his hit tv series. What follows is a hilarious battle as Mary is determined to stay in her family home this holiday and also bring some much needed good cheer to Evan’s holiday. With a little help from Mary’s match-making mother, these two will find the joy of Christmas and that family is more than just blood relatives.
Evan, a lonely young man, feels all alone as he was orphaned as a teenager. He has since always avoided family gatherings, as not wanting to be the unwanted but pity guest. Mary, feels insecure, after her break-up and finds it hard to trust again. Both of these individuals learn the important lesson of connecting with others in their journey. Mary learns to see the sweet, giving side of Evan while he learns the importance of friendship and family, and anyone can be part of your extended family. Their path together will take readers on a fun filled journey, all while enjoying an Irish Christmas.
Murphy’s characters are well developed, and the plot is fun and quick paced, for those who want to cozy up for a quick Saturday afternoon read all while getting their romantic fix. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, and found myself wondering about stories for each of them. A perfect read for those who can not wait for Hallmark’s countdown to Christmas.
Set in Ireland, this adorable rom-com will be sure to put you in the Christmas spirit. I know I am ready to go out and do some Christmas shopping and find that perfect gift for family and friends. I would recommend cozying up with some much loved Christmas cookies, and that perfect Christmas Candle (Sweater Weather from Bath and Body Works) would go along perfectly with this book. This book will be available for purchase September 6, 2025. A special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Boldwood books for the ARC to read and give an honest review.

Snowy Surprises in the Highlands by Lisa Hobman

What is more romantic than cozying up by the fire, a nice mug of hot cocoa (dark chocolate is my personal favorite), and that very special romance novel? Lisa Hobman gives readers the perfect book to do just that in Snowy Surprises in the Highlands. Imagine yourself in the middle of a Hallmark Christmas movie complete with: a Scottish castle, the cute and playful golden retriever puppy, and plenty of romance. Fans of cozy Christmas movies will not want to miss this new book in the Scottish Highlands series.
Bella Douglas and her boyfriend have it all going for them in their new home on thr Isle of Sky. Her interior design business is taking off and her beloved granny Isla lives near by along with his mom. When Harris gives her the cutest golden retriever puppy for Christmas complete wirh a beautiful solitaire engagement ring, everything seems perfect. Fast -forward into the new year and the happy couple realizes that even when you are in love, life still happens. Bella misses her friends and parents who are still at Drumblair Castle. Thrown in the mix is Bella’s wealthy American clients wanting her to design their new hotel.
Bella and her fiancee, Harris, realize that they still have a lot of growth to do during their year of being engaged and what really matters in their relationship. Bella learns to stand up for her self in business (dealing with the rude and flirtatious son of her clients). Both learn to let go of the past (infatuations and love), embrace the moment, and to not worry about the future. They also learn that love and treasuring people are more important than the best laid plans, as you are not always promised tomorrow.
I truly enjoyed this book- curled up under my Peanuts Christmas blanket. I could picture myself in the beautiful Scottish countryside (enjoying the sights, tastes, and smells of a traditional Christmas). I loved the flow of the story along with the growth of the main characters and the depth all of the secondary characters brought to their story. Bella and Harris’ story drew me in and I felt myself identifying a lot with Bella and some of the insecurities and worries she struggled with. Bella, and all of the characters and their experiences were very relatable.

An Amish Second Chance Romance Surprised By Love #8 By: Rachel J Good
“And we know for those who love God all things work together gor good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV).
Rachel J Good takes us back to her beloved Green Valley Farmers Market in Lancaster PA in her newest Amish romance. Readers meet and soon grown to love 40-somethings Cathy Zeir and Myron King as they navigate a rocky and sometimes painful path to love. Readers will also get to catch up with the much loved Mrs. Vandenverg, as this wise octogenerian continues to be God’s vessel (with a little matchmaking on the side). She exemplifies the lyrics from a favorite song of mine: “If I’m not dead, tmyour not done Greater things are still to come” (Elevation Worship, My Testimony 2020).
Cathy Zeir, owner and operator of a donut stand at the market is known for her prickly personality and propensity to gossip. Little does anyone know the loss, trauma, and abuse she has endured as a child. When her beloved nephew asks her to watch his boys as he heads ro Mexico for cancer treatment, Cathy panics. She turns to crotchety, woodworker amyron King for helped. He was once in the same situation when he unexpectedly became guardian to his young nephew and niece. He made many mistakes, so Cathy turns to him to learn what not to do.
Readers will laugh and cry wirh Myron and Cathy as they learn to confront the demons of the past, turn to the only one who can forgive their past sins, and trust in their Sovreign Lord for their futures. They learn what godly love and community looks like -thanks to the help of Mrs. Vandenberg and Myron’s young Amish neighbor, Abby.
Rachel J. Good addresses many tough issues throughout this book: death of parents, childhood abuse and trauma, anger, anxiety, and facing the mistakes we have made and hurt we have caused others. She does this wirh grace and tenderness. I know as someone who has experienced these things myself, I was touched by the depth in which she explored these issues pointing to the Master Physician throughout. She shows God sovereignty and that God is always working (through people and circumstances in our life) so we can experience the fullness and joy in life God has for us. Forgiveness is another central theme throughout and readers will see through the conviction of the Holy spirit to seek not only forgiveness from others, but more importantly our Heavenly Father. God is merciful full of forgiveness and grace when we come to Him with a broken and contrite hearts.
Fans of Rachel Good’s surprised by love series won’t want to miss this book! Curl up with some donuts and your favorite candle (Leaves by Bath and Body Works is a favorite that helps me feel warm and cozy). I truly loved and enjoyed reading this book with a digital copy from my local library. Simba gives this book 4 paws. Happy Reading!

A Daughter’s Choice By Kelly Irvin
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by thr mercies of God, to present your bodies as a loving g sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2 ESV)
“Faith, family, community, then self”, is the central theme of Kelly Irvin’s newest book, A Daughter’s Choice. Dying to self, surrendering in faith, and trusting in our Heavenly Father even when his ways are not our ways are all important truths Irvin weaves throughout this contemporary Amish romance (through the eyes of her characters as they walk through the hills and valleys of life). As believers, we dont always like to sit and rest in God’s sovereignty. Scripture teaches through the life and example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that true joy, peace, and contentment flow from this.
Henrietta and Nicholas learn this and many other valuable lessons throughout their story. Henrietta is struggling with her faith (believing it to be weak) as she is grieving the loss of her baby brother and her mother. Central to the Amish faith is accepting Gods will even in suffering. Her and her father also butt heads throughout as he strong desire to own goat herds and business is contrary to what her dad wants for her (an Amish marriage and family). God shows throughout the story and especially in the development of these characters, that God’s ways are not our ways. His plans are not our plans, but He is always working. Henrietta had to mature that the desires and talents that God has given and placed in our hearts are for His glory and in His time. Also his ways and plans are always greater than anything we can hope or imagine. I was reminded of the following lyrics from Elevation Worshipsson “Trust in God”
“Perfect submission
All is at rest
I know the author of tomorrow
Has ordered my steps”
Enter Nicholas, the new assistant to the local veternarian – a job Henrietta desperately wanted; but one her dad would not allow her to have. Nicholas and his sister are sent to take of their aging grandfather suffering with dementia. Nicholas is also struggling with his faith. He desires to ve a vet, even though he knows that path would cost him his faith, family, and community. He can only focus on these desires until he hears some wise words from the local bishop (who also happens to be Henrietta’s father) “God is sovereign. We are only His vessels – nothingnmore, nothing less.”
Both Henrietta and Nicholas have to grow up in their faith and stop allowing the lies of the enemy to consume their thoughts and desires. In the beginning their thoughts are all “what I want instead of what God wants for you.” Throughout the story with the beloved secondary characters speaking truths into their lives these two kind hearted individuals will truly learn what it means to die to self. They will grasp the importance of faith, family, and community and can see that the true desires of their heart from God can be met within these parameters. They will also learn that even admist the suffering there are many blessings. (This book also reminded me of the song, “Blessed be your Name” by Tree63). In complete surrender and trust Henrietta and Nicholas will see that God truly works all things for His glory and that the blessings are much greater than the sacrifice.
Fans of Kelly Irvin, Amish fiction, and animal lovers alike will want to read this amazing book! Not only is this a sweet and sentimental romance, but Irvin sprinkles and weaves deep spiritual and theological truths throughout the story. Your will grow and begin to find the best place to be is the center of God’will. Like Henrietta and Nicholas, readers will see that God places people in our lives to speak the truth in love. While Henrietta’s father seems tough, un-bending, and even a bit cruel readers will come to understand the depth of His love and his desire for his beloved daughter to experience life to the fullest; while obeying and surrendering to God.
Simba loved this book and readily gives it four paws. He especially loves Tigfer, the cute orange-striped tabby kitten that makes appearances throughout the book. This is that perfect swert, inspirational romance to curl up on a Saturday afternoon and be transported to a place where faith, family, and community are valued. Happy reading!! And remember, “Joy comes with the morning.”
A special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC tobread and review. All opinions are my own. Available for purchase on November 1, 2025.

Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne
What a magical and romantic time of year Christmas is. The joy and wonder of Christmas brings out the inner child in all of us. From that beautifully decorated tree (especially those keepsake ornaments), the twinkling lights, the smells of Christmas (from cookies baking to the fresh smell of evergreen and pine), and the simple joy and wonder of a child as they experience everything with a pure heart, and so much more! Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne is that special, cozy Christmas romance that brings all of the hope, joy, and love of the most blessed time of year. Readers will feel like they are in that perfect Hallmark movie, and experience all those memories and moments that make Chiristmas that wonderful time of year. They will be so caught up in this beautiful story of: love, romance, grace, forgiveness, and second chances – and carried away to that time of year where everything is possible.
In Snow Kissed author RaeAnne Thayne takes readers back to the picturesque town of Shelter Springs (I highly recommend her other Christmas romances set here as well). Readers are immediately drawn into the story of Hope Goodwin, a shelter spring native who has returned home. She is the divorced mother of 5 year old Lydia, a precious little girl who is loved by all who meet her. She soon wraps newcomer Ryan Caldwell, who has come to town to help his beloved sister and take of his niece, around her finger. Holly, the owner of the local flowe shop, finds herself in a predicament. She has been asked to not only do all the flowers foe rhe upcoming wedding of her ex-husband’s sister; but to also also own Lydia to be flowering. While Holly loves her exes family, she is still battling a lot of hurt from his affair and the divorce. Not only that but he is now re-married with a new baby. Holly resents how her ex-husband has neglected sweet Lydia (partly because of her disability). Holly’s twin sister, Hannah comes up with the suggestion of Holly having a date to the wedding and a fake relationship. Who better than handsome, navy pilot Ryan Caldwell. No one counted on falling in love and Ryan certainly did not count on two very special ladies becoming the center of his world.
Snow Kissed is a beautiful, cozy romance that also deals with many real life issues with grace and sensitivity (divorce, children with special needs, substance abuse, family dysfunction, and the death of a parent). Thayne does a masterful job of weaving these issues into a beautiful Christmas romance. The main characters have a depth and maturity that readers will appreciate. I was empathizing with both lead characters throughout, and just felt like I personally knew not only them, but several secondary characters from Hope Springs. Thayne also touched on the importance of healing, forgiveness, and moving on. This was handled with a sweet blend of sensitivity, and realism. Also, truly important (especially from those who have experienced these real life traumas) she shows that forgiveness and healing are possible with true and sincere repentance and apology. Most importantly readers take away that anything is possible at Christmas with love.

Christmas at the Home Farm Vets by Suzanne Snow
“Sometimes, love deserves a second chance because real love never fails” (author unlnown)
For some the journey to happily ever after takes many twists and turns. For some couples it is a matter of timing, and forgiveness others it might be a misunderstanding and a lack of communication. In Christmas at the Home Farm Vets, Erin and Oli found themselves together at Cambridge hoping to become veterinarians. Erin grew up surrounded by her loving mother and grandparents who voted on her. While rich in love, money was always tight. Oli, on the other hand, was sent away to boarding schools. While his parents loved him, there was a lot of dysfunction. These young people are drawn to each other their freshman year, and by the end appear to be ready for the plunge into dating. Over the summer, Oli’s vacation leads to a misunderstanding with Erin and they spend the rest of their college career avoiding each other.
Fast forward a few years and Erin has all se dreamed of: a small English cottage in the Yorkshire Dells and a job at a vet practice combining farm work with companion animals. She loves what she does and she feels content with her home and choices. She agrees to host the locum vet (traveling vet) for the three weeks leading up to Christmas. At the last minute a change in locum vets is needed, and enter Oli. Oli has been practicing veterinary medicine the world over as a locum vet and finds himself face to face with the one girl he never forgot.
What follows is Oli and Erin learning to deal with their family of origin conflicts and hurts, along with working together in a busy country vet office. Will they find their way back to each and learn to trust each other, giving love a second chance?
Readers will delight in Erin and Oli’s story and experience the magic and warmth of the Christmas season. Snow’s vivid description of Christmas traditions has me counting down the days until my favorite time of year. Be fore-warned after reading this sweet romance, you will want to stream that favorite Christmas movie (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas story, and White Christmas) to name a few along with that favorite Christmas beverage (Christmas blend coffee with peppermint mocha creamer is my personal favorite).
This was a sweet, sentimental romance that will stir up a longing for all those favorite holiday traditions with that special someone and your family. Simba enthusiastically gives this novel three paws (due to some love scenes that a bit more explicit than necessary). He also says Marnie, the sweet ginger tabby absolutely steals the show in this sweet Christmas romance.

Abducted in the Woods by Kerry Johnson
“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known” Jeremkah 33:3 ESV
Prayer – talking with our Heavenly Father doesn’t always come to us. It might ebb and glow depending on thr season of life, or it is awkward for some. Sarah Brindleu, our hero in “Abducted in the Woods” felt the awkwardness of not knowing how to pray in thr beginning. Having grown up with an alcoholic mother and her string of boyfriends Sarah knew mistrust, fear and even abuse from many of the men in her life. She struggled wirh seeing God as a loving Heavenly Father who would not hurt her. When her world comes crashing down around her (adultery in her marriage, the death of her spouse, and then the subsequent kidnapping of her young son), she doesn’t know where to turn or if God will even hear her prayers. She had been introduced to the faith as a young teenager by her late husband Tanner and his twin brother Tucker. Her husband, as he moved up the corporate ladder in pharmaceuticals let greed and the things of this earth be his priority instead of his faith in God and his family. God -in his sovereignty and infinite mercy and grace surrounds Sarah men and women of faith (including Tucker, her brother-in-law) who are strong in prayer to hold her up and teach her the amazing grace of God and the power of prayer.
While reading this book, I was reminded of Elevation Worship and Maverick City Worship’s song entitled “Talking to Jesus” ( on the album Old Church Basement)- and how simple prayer can be. When we are going through the fire and trials of life, God is always there. He wants to hear our prayers. He hears, and He answers. We just have to trust.
Kerry Johnson does a great job of bringing these truths to light in Sarah and Tucker’s story – as they are faced with multiple attempts on Sarah’s life after she witnessed the murder of her husband. While searching for Liam, Sarah’s abducted son, they realize just how deep Tanner had been in the medical black market. She shows what fear and greed can do as one reads and learns more of Sarah and Tucker’s back story, and how damaging lies and mistrust can be to the lives of people. Kerry gives readers strong characters, while showing and highlighting their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Reminding me of II Corinthians 12:9 “My strength is made perfect in your weakness”. Throughout the book, Johnson touches on some sensitive subjects (abortion, alcoholism, abuse, and infidelity) ultimately showing the great forgiveness, redemption, and restoration through Christ Jesus. This is especially true for Sarah and Tucker’s as they come to terms with their pasts and find their way back to each other.
With many twists and turns as Sarah and Tucker’s close in on the medical black market ring responsible for Tanner’s death-readers will not want to put this book down! I suggest cozying up with your favorite blanket, maybe a cat or dog by your side, some hot chocolate, and a nice candle that brings comfort (Leaves and the Perfect Autumn from Bath and Body Works are two of my favorites). For those of you wanting to grow in your prayer journey, I highly recommend Prayer – Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God by Timothy Keller.
Simba enthusiastically gives this book four paws. He totally loved Mr. Meows (Liam’s cat) and begrudgingly gives Tucker’s service dog a nod of approval. He hopes you enjoy their stories as well.

The Christmas Playbook by Lisa Carter
“Bear one another’s burden and so fulfill the love of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 ESV
“For there is nothing as sweet as fellowship as we share each other’s lives (Lyrics from Sweet Fellowship, Capella, 1988). Throughout scripture, we see the importance of fellowship, family, faith and loving others (especially the downtrodden and those who have been cast aside). We follow the example of our Heavenly Father who loved us when we were deep in sin, He who knew no sin became sin that we might become the righteousness of God (II Corinthians 5:21). Living in community, and sharing in each other’s lives as brothers and sisters, a great picture of the love the Father has for us.
Faith, family, fellowship, fall, football, and Christmas- what a delightful combination for fans of chrisrian fiction and clean romance. Truelove, nestled in the beautiful Blueridge mountains, is home to Maggie Lovett, the beloved daughter of the towns high-school coach. Enter Tanner Price, former high school football quarterback, as he returns home to help his alcoholic mother. When Maggie’s beloved father suffers a heart attack, Tanner is called upon to coach the team for the remainder of the season.
Maggie, always had a secret crush on Tanner, when as a freshman girl she tutored the high school football star. Tanner, diagnosed with Dyslexia, and coming from a broken family struggles with feelings of self-doubt and worth. Much to his surprise, he falls in love with teaching and becoming the champion pf students falling between the cracks in school.
Can Maggie and Tanner move past family drama and addiction and find their way to each other? With much help from their beloved town anything is possible. Readers will be drawn into this heartwarming romance and small town life where people come together to help and support their own. Lisa Carter does an amazing job of handling tough societal issues (addiction, education, learning disabilities, and divorce) with sensitivity, grace, and a bit of humor.
Readers will relate to Tanner and Maggie, the obstacles and personal growth they experience. The cast of secondary characters will bring humor, and that sweet sense of love and belonging. Lisa brings everything together in a beautiful way showing the Providence of God and His sovereignty in all things.

You will fall in love with the townspeople of Truelove as they help these two find their way to each other and live a life of true community and fellowship. If I Run Series by Terri Blackstock
Psalm 10:14
“But you do see, for you note mischief, and vexation that you may take it into your hands.”
Living in a fallen world, we are faced with evil all around us. Why does a good God allow bad things to happen? Why do innocent people suffer so much? Why do rapes, children molesting, kidnapping, murder, and much more run rampant in our world? These questions run through our minds, as we are tasked with living life in a fallen world.
Blackstock deals wirh these questions and much more in her “If I Run Series (Zondervan publishing). Readers will fall in love with main characters Casey Cox and Dylan Roberts as they are bombarded and faced evil head on in this fast-pace page turner. Fast forward many years later, Casey once again finds the dead body of someone she is close to, dear friend Brent. What does she do? Where does she turn? She can’t go to the police, as corruption and evil run deep in the local Shrevepoint police. department. With these thoughts and all evidence pointing toward her Casey makes a rash, snap decision to go on the run.
In comes former army CID officer Dylan Roberts. Having grown up on Shreveport as well, Dylan is hired by Brents parents to hunt Casey down and bring her in for justice. Facing his own demons of PTSD, Blackstock brings these two together to face the evil of their hometown. Readers are able to see the story from all angles as Blackstock tells the story from their point of view, along with maintenance antagonist Detective Keegans point of view.
While richly developing these characters through the telling of their backstreet along with plot twisters throughtout; Blackstock weaves a poignant story of God’s sovereignty, mercy, grace, and judgement. On her journey, non-believer Casey crosses paths with believers who are experiencing some of the lowest valleys. Believers, Dylan Roberts will leave no stone uncovered to bring Casey back, and in doing so uncovers the truth. He begins praying for Casey on her spiritual journey as he goes to find out just how far, and how broad the corruption really is in their hometown. Weaving the theme of Romans 8:28 throughout Blackstock illustrates God’s sovereignty, His steadfast love and faithfulness, that God is always working even when we dont see it. Not only that, readers will see that God doesn’t always immediately calm the storms of our lives but he always calms His child.
Until Christ comes we will experience the hills and valleys of this life. There will be trials and sometimes we will face evil as these characters did, and not just them but beloved characters throughout acripture: Job, David, Daniel, and our savior Jesus Christ…He who knew no sin became sin that we might become His righteousness. Take heart in our faithful God of covenant: He is always working things for his glory and joy comes with the morning.
Simba gives this series 4 paws. Fans of christian fiction and romantic suspense will love this series and not want to put it down until finished. Much deeper than the love story of Casey and Roberts, readers will see God’s great love for his people as Casey runs from the arms of evil into the loving arms of her heavenly father. The Pretender Mifflin Cointy Mystery Book #3 by Wanda Brunstetter
Luke 8:17 Esv. “For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.”
Back about 15-18 years ago I fell in love with Amish fiction. Authors such as: Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, Marta Perry, and Amy Clipston drew me in with simple stories of faith, family, love, and forgiveness. Busy as a young mom with 4 kids, I loved reading about young Amish women and their faith journey, with some romance sprinkled in. I loved that faith, family, and forgiveness were woven into the fabric of their every day life. These books, and the struggles the characters faith, helped me in my own journey to see that all are humans, all struggles with sin, and we all need a savior. I began to see, that even the simplicity of their life did not guarantee happiness. I have learned that families, just like people are not perfect, and through God’s grace we are being molded and shaped and refined to be more like Christ. As a mom, I learned the importance of admitting my mistakes, asking forgiveness, but most importantly loving my children unconditionally. I still love a great Amish Fiction romance, and the lessons that can be gained from reading these simple, faith-filled stories; but I know that what is more important is how I am living my daily life and the relationships withing my own family and friends.
The Pretender, tells the story of Rosa Petersheim (fans have been eagerly awaiting to find out her story from previous books in the series). Rosa, the Petersheim’s long-lost prodigal daughter finds herself unmarried and pregnant. Having left home 2 years ago to escape her strict, Amish Father (bishop of their Amish distict) she is scared to go home and be turned away. With no where else to go, and no other options she returns home with co-worker Anthony Reeves who agrees to be her “pretend” husband until they can fake a breakup. Rosa, who has not spoken to her family in the time she has been gone, comes home to a a mother who is ready to welcome her back and an angry, seemingly unforgiving father. It is soon brought to light that her younger sister, Susan, had lied and hid and threw away letters Rosa had sent to her parents out of extreme sibling jealousy. Readers will eagerly turn the pages as they can’t wait to see how things will work out for all the characters.
This book illustrateshow true conviction of sin and godly sorrow leads to confession and repentance, as each character has their own shortcomings to face. Young Anthony, will see how God is always working and pursuing us; Susan will see that all truth will come to light; and Rosa will learn what true repentance is.
Redemption, grace, and forgiveness are themes throughout scripture. Wanda gives her readers a glimpse of this as readers journey with Rosa and Anthony on their path to restoration with their heavenly Father. For me, while I loved this book and the characters, I was hoping for a bit more depth with the characters especially Rosa’s father and sister.
Simba gives this book 3 paws.

The Christmas Keepsake By: Annie Rains
Received copy from Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) to read for an honest review
“Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul” (Precious Memories Lyrics @Emibaapril Music Inc. Songwriters Dp/Johnnie Robert Wright)
As a first time mother, amd lover of all things Christmas, I was so excited to pick out that all important baby’s first Christmas ornament. It had to be the best, so of course, off to the local Hallmark store we went. I will always remember that little train with a bear that says baby’s first Christmas. And of course, it came as part of a set for the next couple of years (Which we proudly collected). Twenty-five years qnd four kids later, we still make the annual trip to the store for that perfect keepsake ornament. We have collected Disney princesses, Harry Potter, Superheroes, Charlie Brown, and many more. All showing likes or what was important that year. But for this mama’s heart, nothing compares to that first ornament and the hope, love, and dreams I felt for each Precious baby. As the children leave the nest and marry, they are given a container with these ornaments wrapped up so that they may remember a bit of the past as they make new memories. My prayer is that they will always know how valued and loved thru are- and that their past and legacy will be a small part of their beautiful story that is being written by God.
Annie Rains beautifully illustrates these sentiments and so much more in her heart-warming novel “The Christmas Keepsake”. Transported back to the small town of Bloom, Rains’ readers are finally given the much awaited love story of characters Mallory and Hollis, who we have met in previous books. The book begins with Mallory working overtime shifts to keep her beloved grandmother, Nan, in the expensive memory care facility she is currently living in. Mallory’s sister Maddie, wants them to sell their grandmother’s beloved community theater to pay for this care. Mallory, is able to convince her sister to allow her to do rectified the play “Santa, Baby” that her grandmother wrote one last time.
While all this is going on, Mallory is reading through her grandmother’s memory journal where each entry corresponds to a specific ornament. Readers will take a journey wirh Mallory down memory lane, as she reads her grandmother’s story and gains a greater understanding and knowledge of the whole woman her grandmother was (and learn some lessons along the way). She will read about her grandparent’s marriage, and a very special first-love that she never knew about. Mallory finally is able to come to grips with her past, learn some valuable lessons, and realize what truly is important.
Stimulanously, former town bad-boy Hollis is battling dons of his own: neglect, feelings of unworthiness, and what life he should live? Does he pursue his own dreams and passions pertaining to dog training and his beloved “pops Christmas tree farm, or does he follow in tbr steps of his unofficial adopted father?
Rains used the theater and their childhood past to bring these two characters together in a beautiful and meaningful way. All the while, telling the back story of Nan and Pops that will touch your heart. I truly felt transported to the sweet, romantic town of Bloom and was in love with these two characters for the beginning. Not only was I rooting for their romance, but for all things in their life to work out. Rains expertly handles all the tougj/sensitive subjects found in the pages of this book with depth, sensitivity, and genuinely. I found myself alternatively crying and at the same time thanking God for His mercy and grace.
Our pasts, while shaping us and impacting us do not have to define us. We are each created in the image of God and he has a beautiful purpose and plan for your life. Always remember, you are loved and worthy.
If you want a sweet and sentimental; yet uplifting and encouraging moments I highly recommend “The Christmas Keepsake” by Annie Rains. Now I am in the mood for Christmas movies and hot cocoa. Happy Reading!

Romans 8:28 ESV
“And we know that for those who love Gor all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
“Sometimes you Stay” by Liz Johnson: A Red Door Inn Romance
Psalm 32:7. “You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. “
A small child growing up with trauma (physical, psychological, emotional abuse or neglect) is so hard for us to process. For the child, there are scars they will carry throughout life. Many times those cars will be picked over and bleed a bit more til they scab over again. Many times we question and ask where God was in the midst of all this and why did He allow this to happen? The people who are supposed to love and protect this innocent child, are the ones hurting him causing great pain. I am no theologian and I do not understand the why, and I sincerely believe we won’t understand it this side of heaven. As a victim of childhood trauma, I can tell you that looking back, I see God’s hand and protection throughout my childhood. These painful experiences have made me who I am today, and God has used them to help me reach out to children today. I see the truth of Romans 8:28 through the end of the chapter.
Liz Johnson illustrates this beautifully in the story of Cretia Martin. Growing up with a dysfunctional mother (a hoarder who puts things above relationships) Cretin is afraid to put roots down naturally digital content creator, she travels the world with all her possessions in one backpack and suitcase. In an unexpected meeting, literally running into Prince Edwaed Island dog breeder Finn Chaffey, Martin’s posessions are lost in the harbor and she is forced to stay for a while.
What follows is a beautiful story of discovery for Cretia. She learns to embrace forgiveness, and to acknowledge the crippling hold her past on her. She has to learn to trust and embrace life, learning she can put roots down without turning into her mother. This book touched so close to home as my home was similar to hers, and healing tears were shed throughout. It also prompted me to evaluate my own life, and how I need to let go of the past. To offer forgiveness and grace to others and myself.
Finn also has a past and emotional baggage that he is carrying around (the loss of a sibling). Liz brings these two characters together in a beautiful and sensitive way – showing God’s grace, redemption, and sovereignty. He has an amazing plan for us when we are able to put down the heavy baggage of our past and trust in our heavenly Father.
I encourage everyone to read this novel. You will fall in love with Prince Edward Island and all the characters. More importantly, you will learn to let go of the past, find forgiveness, and move forward in faith.

Designed with Love by Tracie Peterson
3 John 1:4
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth” ESV
As an avid reader I am always looking for that piece of fiction that touches my heart, has memorable characters, and has life lessons. As a follower of Christ, it is even more meaningful when that work of fiction presents biblical truth in a profound way with a mixture of grace and truth. This book did all that and so much more!
WOW! What a beautiful story of: forgiveness, love, grace, family, reconciliation, and most importantly redemption. This story begins with Emma, one of the main characters, as a young girl deciding she wants to walk away from her faith to have fun. After the introduction, on her wedding day, Emma becomes a widow and turns her life over to the Lord.
Tracie Peterson handles Emma’s redemption story with great depth and understanding while weaving so many biblical truths into the storyline. There is the issue of special needs individuals from the perspective of Emma’s sister-in-law Rosie (a character you will immediately fall in love with). There is forgiveness and reconciliation as Emma learns to understand God’s forgiveness, letting go of the past, and not to listen to the lies of the enemy. The characters when confronted with their past and their families of orgins learn a lot about true and godly repentance.
For me as a parent, Tracie Peterson does a wonderful job of speaking important biblical truths to parents: intecessory prayer, praying for a child’s future spouse, teaching your children to hide scripture in their heart, and to train up a child in the way he should go. Emma and her brother-in-law, Colton, both grew up with Godly mothers but turned their backs on God. Through a beautiful, touching romance Peterson shows how God is always working in our loves and calling us to repentance.
This book is a true gem: rich in scripture, tender in dealing with difficult subjects, portrays the gospel message with clarity highlighting the steadfast love of God and his faithfulness. You will fall in love with the characters thanks to Tracie’s literary style while being being transported back in time to the Wyoming territory. More importantly, I hope it will help you to fall more in love with the God of the Bible and find rest and hope in the truth of His word.
Simba gives this novel a well deserved 4 paws.
